Employment & Training

The employment services provide skills training, volunteer work, and job opportunities for unemployed individuals experiencing homelessness, while focusing on the different needs of the service users throughout their career development process.

Since 2020, we have implemented community adaptation and employability-enhancing-oriented training programmes, providing team-based skills training for over 85 participants. This initiative has enabled them to become “Community Helpers”, empowering them to help others while utilizing their personal expertise to learn how to care for marginalized groups, thus building confidence and rediscovering life goals in the process. Additionally, the program has led to 34 members being hired as our assistants, becoming full-time employees of the organization and providing job opportunities.

Furthermore, annually, we offer diverse employment support and skills training to an average of over 60 individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them match with suitable full-time and part-time jobs and facilitating their entry into the open job market.

Career Planning Advice Service

Our Career Planning Officers offer customised career planning support to individuals experiencing homelessness. By conducting thorough career assessments, we assist service users in identifying their unique personalities, interests, skills, and values. This process empowers them to explore various career options and navigate industry information and employment resources effectively. With a deeper understanding of their strengths and opportunities, service users can set clear personal goals and develop informed career plans that align with their aspirations.

Community Assistants Programme

Building on the experience gained from previous training programmes designed for individuals experiencing homelessness, the current career adaptability & employability enhancement-oriented training programme — “Community Assistants Programme” — aims to assist homeless individuals in enhancing their employability, promoting personal growth and resilience in the workplace, as well as discovering potential and opportunities.

The program tailors its approach to the various career needs of homeless individuals by establishing clear career goals through employment assessments and career planning. It begins with life skills training and focuses on helping participants maintain healthy work routines as a foundation. This allows homeless individuals to engage as “Community Assistants” volunteers in our service units, increasing their community participation and career experience.

Additionally, the programme includes job skills training to enhance employability, along with internship opportunities at external organizations to increase industry awareness and experience. Through the concept of team-based training, participants can support and learn from each other, fostering collective progress.

Employment Support Service

This service works with those who need support seeking work in the mainstream job market. It provides individual career counselling, helps to inform users of what is out there, as well as helping them to discover their aspirations and build self-esteem. We also offer seminars on topics such as work safety and career planning.

Additionally, the program offers temporary material and financial assistance to homeless individuals who are job-seeking or currently employed. This support covers expenses such as appearance attire, transportation allowances, equipment, and administrative fees related to handling documentation and qualifications, alleviating the daily costs associated with starting a job.

We also help to provide links to our network of employers, advocating for internships and job opportunities that contribute to the career development of homeless individuals.

We warmly invite individuals who are willing to dedicate themselves to serving the homeless community to provide job opportunities, assisting them in completing the Social Welfare Activities Assistant training program to become formal employees of our service units, and continuing to actively provide support to community groups.
